Graduated from Musicology, Literature, and Human Sciences, Jean Michel Cohen Solal began his career as Professor at the École Normale, in France, then served in primary, middle, high school, and University, in national, bilingual, independent, and international schools.
His expertise in French Didactics leads him to write about the learning process of reading.
In 2012, Jean Michel Cohen Solal moved in Manhattan, and worked at the French American School of New York.
He has also written novels and extensive literary studies.
Jean Michel Cohen Solal is currently writing a book with Alex Layne and Michael Baumann on Jazz in Harlem.
He lives in Manhattan where he teaches French Literature.
